BOD To Meet

IAPE Board Of Directors To Discuss Contract, Layoffs

November 11, 2016 — The elected Board of Directors of IAPE TNG-CWA Local 1096 will be meeting tomorrow in Jersey City, NJ to discuss, among other matters, recent layoffs & buyouts and Dow Jones contract negotiations.

(If you live or work in the NY/NJ area and would like to attend the Board meeting, please do. Start time tomorrow is 10:00 AM — location is the Hyatt Regency on the Hudson, we'll be in the Liberty Room.)

A couple of points on buyouts and layoffs: based on information we have received from Dow Jones, our best guess at the total number of buyout recipients is 84, with 41 of those coming from the IAPE bargaining unit.

On layoffs, discussions with Dow Jones management lead us to believe no additional layoffs are planned at this time — at least not through the end of this calendar year.

On bargaining, IAPE directors will be discussing all recent proposals and agreements during tomorrow's meeting — we hope to have more information about the main Dow Jones contract to share on Monday.

November 9, 2016 — The biannual meeting of the IAPE TNG/CWA Local 1096 Board of Directors will be held this Saturday at the Hyatt Regency in Jersey City, NJ (adjacent to the Exchange Place PATH station).

Union Bylaws state that "Meetings of the Board of Directors shall be open to all members." For those of you who live and work in the NJ/NY area — or those who will be in the area this weekend — if you would like to attend the Board meeting please contact IAPE Executive Director Tim Martell so we can confirm the number of attendees with the hotel.

Meeting start time is 10:00 AM.

If you live and work elsewhere or otherwise won't be able to attend, but would like the Union Board to address a question you have, please contact your local director or the IAPE office.

The IAPE Board expects to have a full discussion of contract negotiations during this meeting. At this moment, IAPE is close to a main contract deal with Dow Jones — Union officials hope to have additional details very soon about a possible tentative agreement, a package to be voted on by all members in good standing.
