Your Holiday. Your Money.
The 4th of July falls on a Saturday this year, with the official observance set for Friday, July 3rd.
In other words, for US-based IAPE-represented employees, the holiday provided in the contract is Friday, July 3rd. Canadian-based IAPE-represented employees have their corresponding holiday, Canada Day, on July 1st.
No matter which you work — July 3rd in the US or July 1st in Canada — the contract provision is the same: You are entitled to time-and-a-half for your regularly scheduled hours (double-time for anything beyond the regular shift) AND another day off, or another day's pay. This covers everyone regardless of whether you're eligible for overtime or not.
It's your money. All you have to do is file for it. And, as always, if there's a problem getting paid, let us know.
