Wage Increase and COLA
Effective February 1, 2009 IAPE-represented employees (hired by Dow Jones before December 1, 2008) will receive a wage increase of 3.67%: the basic 3% increase provided by the contract augmented by a cost of living adjustment to total 3.67%.
For those going thru the scales, you'll receive the LARGER of either the scales increase or the 3.67% increase. If you have questions about the scales, call the office.
The increase is yours because you have a written and enforceable contract — a contract that exists only because you have a union. The wage increase is important (ask anyone who's impacted by the company's wage freeze) but the increase is just the beginning of the protections you have under the contract — protections we have to defend as we prepare for another round of bargaining this year.
To achieve our goals, IAPE needs your help. As we begin plans for protecting our workplace rights with a new contract, we need to build our team of stewards and contacts throughout our Union. If you're interested in being a part of that contact team, please reach out to our office at union@iape1096.org.
