Reopening Canada

We thought it was a bad idea when The Wall Street Journal made the announcement in December 2006 that it was "closing Canada," so we're not surprised that WSJ has finally realized its mistake. Canada is being "reopened" by the Journal with the August reassignment of Phred Dvorak from San Francisco to Toronto.

The statement posted on DowJones.net reads, "We are pleased to announce that The Wall Street Journal, after a nearly three year hiatus, is re-establishing a beachead in Canada. Starting in August, Phred Dvorak will move from San Francisco to Toronto to be the Journal's Canada correspondent. Business, political and economic stories from Canada are obviously of importance to our global readership."

It's good to have a Journal reporter back in Canada — perhaps Dow Jones can start bringing back all those hard-working and dedicated employees— across the United States and Canada — who were outsourced over the past three years.
