Pay Raises and Retro
The new wage rates and the retro payments called for as part of the new contract with Dow Jones appear in the November 8, 2007 paycheck (for all non-Factiva IAPE-represented employees. Factiva wage increases of 3.25% take effect January 1, 2008.)
Retro appears on a separate line on your pay stub and reflects a 3% increase in your base rate and overtime payments (but not stand-by rates or shift differentials) dating back to February 1. 2007. Anyone earning less than $41,600 a year ($800 a week) will receive a minimum increase of $24 a week (which translates to 3.1% raise at $40,000, a 3.5% raise at $35,000 and a 3.9% raise at $32,000.)
If there's any problem with your raise or your retro, send an email, immediately, to union organizer Tim Martell. We'll get it straightened out.
For those working through the scales, it'll take a little while to produce the new scales document for posting on the IAPE website, but the formula is set and straightforward.
Simply take your scale for 2006 ( IAPE Job Descriptions and Scales ) and multiply by 1.015 to determine the scale for 2007.
Remember, you will always receive the larger of either your steps through the scales or the 3% compensatory wage increase. Those scale adjustments are supposed to be automatic, but if they aren't reflected on your check — or you have any question about the scales — send an email, immediately, to union organizer Tim Martell.
As always, if you need me, give me a call or send me a note.
