The New Guy

As News Corp. completes its take over of Dow Jones & Company the expected corporate shake up is unfolding — and DJ CEO Rich Zaninno was the first to leave, posting his farewell statement on Thursday December 6, 2007.

News Corp. announced on Friday, December 7th that News Corp. veteran Les Hinton will become chief executive of Dow Jones and that Times of London editor Robert Thomson is set to become publisher of The Wall Street Journal.

Les Hinton is the News International executive chairman and has ties to News Corp. Chairman Rupert Murdoch going back several decades. Hinton was named executive chairman of News International in 1995 after serving as CEO of News America Publishing, whose titles included the New York Post. Hinton currently oversees News Corp.'s papers in the United Kingdom, including The Times of London, The Times Literary Supplement, The Sun, and News of the World.

Rich Zaninno's resignation is effective after News Corp.'s purchase of Dow Jones closes which is expected Friday, December 14th.
