Bargaining Update: 09.05.07

The Company has presented IAPE with a new contract proposal it is calling its "Final Offer."

The company's offer is certainly less than we've been fighting for— and it is well short of what you deserve. We do not believe this is a Quality Contract, by any stretch of the imagination.

But, as we've said repeatedly over the past two years, "This is Your Union." You need to see the details of the package the company has offered and make a judgement as to what it means to you and your family.

A point-by-point explanation of the terms of the proposal has been posted on the IAPE website, along with a spreadsheet detailing the break-down in premiums and wage increases. We've also posted a Wages/Premiums Converter which will calculate (but not adjust for any projected rate of inflation) exactly what the proposed combination of wages and premiums will mean to your bottom line over the life of the contract.

In the coming days we'll be setting-up meetings at locations across the country to answer your questions and explore the options.

In the meantime, if you need me, feel free to drop me a line or give me a call.
