Holiday Pay

Just a quick reminder on holiday pay.

CanadaDay.jpg

For those in Canada, Sunday July 1st was Canada Day (observed on Monday July 2nd.) It's a Dow Jones recognized holiday under the terms of the contract ( Dow Jones Contract or Factiva Contract) and that means if you're in Canada and worked Monday you're entitled to holiday pay.

For those IAPE members in the US, it's Independence Day on July 4th.

In either case, if you are assigned to work the holiday you get time and a half for your regularly assigned daily hours and double time for anything beyond those regular hours. You ALSO get another day off or another day's straight pay (at the option of the company.)

It's your money. If you work it, file for it. If there's any problem collecting it, call union organizer Tim Martell at the IAPE office at 609-275-6020 or drop me a line.
